Early start for Rovers stars

Manager Sean O'Driscoll insists his charges must report back for three days at the start of June so he can check on their fitness levels. Among those that have made the early return are defender Sean McDaid who missed the whole of last season through injury, James O'Connor who recently underwent ankle surgery, and fellow ankle ligament victim James O'Connor. "The players all looked in good shape," physio John Dickens told the Star. "They were all body-fat tested and nobody has put on any weight since the end of last season. They did some exercises to test their fitness, some running and some strength training as well as some ball work." Rovers' players will return to full training on July 6, two days before they kick off their pre-season campaign against Armthorpe.
