Dumbuya eyes Doncaster start

Mustapha Dumbuya is hoping to make his first league start for Doncaster when they visit Preston on Saturday. The defender was restricted to just three substitute appearances last season but has enjoyed an impressive pre-season, putting in exceptional performances in victories over West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday. Due to the absence of James Chambers, who is expected to be out for another month with a knee injury, Dumbuya could be given his chance to impress manager Sean O'Driscoll at Deepdale. "I was pleased with how I played in both games (West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday), though I can do better - there is always room for improvement," Dumbuya told the Sheffield Star. "I feel part of the squad now and my confidence is up, so I can express what I am about. "The team play such good football that it is easy to keep the ball and pass and move into space. A lot of opposing teams can't handle it. There will be a lot of competition for places when everyone is fit."
