Doncaster's Woods close to a starting role

Doncaster Rovers will be looking to equal their best unbeaten run of the season in Saturday's home game against Derby County Rovers strung four successive wins together - a sequence which included a 2-0 win over the Rams at Pride Park - in December. Were Rovers to beat Nigel Clough's men, who lost 4-1 at Reading last night after playing a man short for over half the game, it would take their tally to eight points from their last four outings.Assistant manager Richard O'Kelly admitted yesterday that he would have settled for four points from games at Ashton Gate and Deepdale - where Rovers had poor records - but felt they deserved more."We were probably a little bit disappointed to come away from Preston (on Tuesday) with just a draw," he said. "I thought our first half performance deserved three points."The game saw midfielder Martin Woods make his first appearance of 2010."Martin came on for the last 15 minutes or so and it was nice to see him back," said O'Kelly."He has been training for about ten days and he was itching to get involved again."His fitness levels are always good and he's the sort of player who could come back into the side without having had a practice game."You probably wouldn't get 90 minutes out of him if he started this weekend but he's certainly at a level which is a credit to the physio staff and Ross Burbeary."It has been very noticeable this season that when players have come back from injury their fitness levels have certainly been at a better standard than last year.Centre-back Shelton Martis was expected to join in today's session and be available for Saturday's game after a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.
