Rovers hopeful on Duffy

Doncaster are confident Mark Duffy will be fit for the South Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Duffy has struggled with illness this week, along with a few others in the Rovers camp, but manager Paul Dickov thinks the winger will be okay for Saturday's clash against the Owls.

Aston Villa striker Jordan Bowery has returned to his parent club following the end of his loan spell. He remains in Dickov's thoughts but with Bongani Khumalo (knee) out for the remainder of the season and Gabriel Tamas currently sidelined, bringing a defender in on loan is the Scot's priority.

Tamas underwent surgery on his fractured cheekbone on Thursday. The centre-half may have a protective mask fitted which will allow him to return sooner than expected.

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland could return to contention.

Kirkland, sidelined for four matches due to a calf injury, is expected to return to full training on Friday but Damian Martinez, on loan from Arsenal, will be hoping to retain his place after keeping a clean sheet in the midweek win against QPR.

Midfielder Sam Hutchinson, on loan from Chelsea, sat out on Tuesday night due to a knee problem but is also expected to be available, while boss Stuart Gray has no new selection problems.

The Owls are chasing a third straight win in their bid to climb into the top half of the table.
