Butler set for Rovers bow

Doncaster-born defender Andy Butler could make his debut for his hometown club against MK Dons.

Butler joined Rovers on loan on Thursday as boss Paul Dickov attempts to freshen up his squad following three defeats in the last four league matches.

The 30-year-old could start as part of a back three, which would allow for a central midfield trio along with Nathan Tyson and Curtis Main up front. Main has been eased back into things recently after recovering from the knee injury that kept him out since August and the striker is closing in on a return to the starting line-up.

Winger Kyle Bennett is also pushing to make his first start for a month.

Dean Bowditch is an injury doubt for the Dons.

Bowditch hobbled off shortly before half-time against Fleetwood on Tuesday night and boss Karl Robinson will check on the forward ahead of the weekend.

Following Saturday's 0-0 draw with Leyton Orient, Robinson made two changes to his starting line-up for the visit of the Cod Army, with Darren Potter returning after illness at the heart of the midfield in place of Mark Randall, while Benik Afobe made way for Will Grigg up front.

Danny Green (hamstring) and Lee Hodson (ankle) have resumed training outside but remain some way off a return to first-team contention.
