Rovers waiting on Keegan

Doncaster will check on midfielder Paul Keegan ahead of the visit of Hartlepool.

Keegan, who only returned from a knock last weekend, was forced off with a dead leg as Rovers won 2-1 at Shrewsbury on Tuesday night to go top of the npower League One table.

David Syers replaced him at half-time in Shropshire and he will probably start should Keegan miss out.

Winger Kyle Bennett came off the bench to score Doncaster's injury-time winner against the Shrews and he could now be in line for a starting role.

Rovers boss Brian Flynn told reporters ahead of the game: "There comes a time when you have to realise your potential and that time is coming soon for Kyle I would say."

Simon Walton and Evan Horwood are both doubtful as in-form Hartlepool chase a fourth straight league win.

Midfielder Walton was forced out of the midweek home win over Crewe with a nerve problem in his leg but has an outside chance of returning to contention.

His replacement Andy Monkhouse is likely to return to the starting line-up if Walton fails to make it.

Horwood struggled towards the end of Tuesday night's win with a tight calf muscle but lasted the full 90 minutes and is expected to resume in defence.

Manager John Hughes has no other new injury or suspension problems and is unlikely to make any unforced changes to his side.

Midfielder Antony Sweeney (knee) is still sidelined and teenage defender Jordan Richards (knee) is out for the rest of the season.
