Doncaster midfielder James Coppinger expected to return against Gillingham

Doncaster midfielder James Coppinger is expected to return to contention for Saturday's home game against Gillingham.

Coppinger missed last week's FA Cup defeat to Stoke due to an ankle injury sustained in the recent league win at Southend.

Winger Cameron Stewart has extended his loan spell from Ipswich but is still struggling with a back problem, which has ruled him out of the last three matches.

Striker Curtis Main (back) and midfielder Gary MacKenzie (ankle) both returned from injury to step off the bench against Stoke and will be hoping to feature again.

The high-flying Gills are determined to get back to winning ways as they take on Darren Ferguson's mid-table Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Justin Edinburgh's side have won four of their last five matches to sit second in the Sky Bet League One table, just a point behind leaders Burton but a narrow defeat at Wigan last time out set them back.

Edinburgh is wary of the threat Doncaster pose ahead of the Priestfield clash but is confident Gills can get a result and he told his club's official website: "They (Doncaster) are an improving side. Darren has gone in there and started to implement his own ideas but anyone playing us will know that we are a very good side and full of confidence."

Midfielder Bradley Dack, who has scored 13 goals for the Gills so far this season, is just one booking away from a suspension, while striker Luke Norris (ankle) could make his return after being an unused substitute at Wigan but fellow forward Cody McDonald (foot) will be out for at least another three weeks with a broken metatarsal.
