Triple worry for Rovers

Doubts remain over the fitness of three Doncaster players ahead of the FA Cup third-round tie against Bristol City.

Richie Wellens missed the defeat at Peterborough on Sunday after suffering a hamstring injury in the Boxing Day win over Coventry. Rovers boss Paul Dickov hopes the midfielder will recover in time to face the Robins.

Forwards Kyle Bennett and Nathan Tyson will also be assessed. Bennett has missed the last two matches with hamstring and thigh issues while Tyson has been nursing a calf complaint recently.

Dickov said this week that teenage midfielder Harry Middleton is close to earning a place in the starting line-up, while striker Curtis Main will also be pushing for a recall.

Bristol City hope to be able to field Matt Smith when they make the trip to South Yorkshire.

The in-form forward, who has scored three times in his last two games, was unable to feature in the Robins' second-round victory over AFC Telford but boss Steve Cotterill has asked Fulham if they will let the striker feature in this round.

Cotterill has doubts over Kieran Agard (ankle) and Aaron Wilbraham (hip) but Chelsea loanee Todd Kane has been given permission to feature.

Joe Bryan (thigh) and Wade Elliott (calf) will also be involved having shaken off their recent problems.
