Doncaster Rovers out foxed by Leicester

Leicester City proved too cunning for Doncaster Rovers in last night's Championship clash at the Keepmoat Stadium. The Foxes stole an early goal and then defied all that Rovers, and the weather, could throw at them to claim a 1-0 win."We were all over the shop in the first 10 minutes and if there is something that we need to improve on, it is that," said Rovers No 2 Richard O'Kelly."But even though we were under the cosh, Jordon Mutch's header was probably the best chance during that period."Jordon made a great run into the box and made a good connection with Dean Shiels' cross, but unfortunately his header was straight at the keeper."They then scored from the long goal-kick."Defensively you look at the goal and you'd say that we probably could have done better. But then you have to give the boy (Martin Waghorn) credit. He showed great strength and great composure and he finished with aplomb."I thought that in the second half of the first half that we got more into the game and gave it a right go."John Oster was very influential. He got on the ball in the middle of the park - as did the other midfielders - and we created opportunities."But shots were blocked and the ball wouldn't drop for us in and around the box."To be fair, they are a good defensive side and they are difficult to break down. I don't think that there are many sides who would have created as many opportunities or had more shots at goal, as we did tonight."So, from our point of view, we have to take that as a positive. "What we have got to do is to get better at keeping our team shape when we are going forward and making sure that we stop the opposition - especially good opposition, from breaking out."Leicester have got a lot of pace with people like Lloyd Dyer and our defenders were tested tonight."With skipper Brian Stock ruled out with a back problem - the club expect to find out the extent of the injury in the next day or so - they gave a starting debut to 18 year-old Birmingham City midfielder Mutch."We were very pleased with Jordon," said O'Kelly."He's got potential. He's a good all round athlete, competes well and he's got good technique. "He can be proud of his performance tonight."Another man to catch O'Kelly's eye was keeper Neil Sullivan, who celebrates his 40th birthday today."Neil gets better with age," said O'Kelly."He produced a very good save and dictated the tempo of the game with his distribution.
