Doncaster finally end 17-game winless run by beating leaders Wigan

Relegation-threatened Doncaster came from behind to end champions-elect Wigan's 20- match unbeaten run and end their own 17-match drought.

It was no more than the home side deserved after looking the better side for most of the match against the below par League One leaders.

Will Grigg scored against the run of play for Wigan just before the interval but Rovers roared back with two goals from Andy Butler and a penalty from Andy Williams in the second half.

To add to their misery Wigan also had midfielder David Perkins sent off for the foul which led to Rovers' third goal.

Doncaster failed to find the net despite having more of the play in the first half and were punished when Grigg headed home a right wing cross from Yanic Wildshut in the 41st minute.

Doncaster stormed on the attack after the interval with Butler equalising with a thundering 50th-minute header following a corner before forcing the ball home to give his side the lead four minutes later following another flag-kick.

Rovers wrapped up the points in the 88th minute when Perkins was sent off for bringing down Gary McSheffrey and Williams hammered the ball home from the spot to give Rovers their first win since January 2, though they remain six points adrift of safety.
