Norris rumbles dominant Rovers

Two goals from powerful striker Luke Norris secured Gillingham a 2-1 success at Doncaster and their first league win on the road this season.

The first half was completely one sided as Gillingham failed to win a single corner or land a shot on target, while Stuart Nelson was continually busy in the visitors' goal.

Paul Keegan and Curtis Main peppered the Gillingham goal, while Nelson was at full stretch to save from James Coppinger and Kyle Bennett.

But Doncaster paid the penalty for failing to find an end product when Norris struck in the second half.

On-loan Michael Doughty produced a raking left-wing cross, which was bundled home by Norris at the far post in the 52nd minute.

Coppinger hit a great chance to equalise inches wide before Norris hammered home again with a cracking effort from 20 yards in the 77th minute.

Main ended Rovers run of four home games without a goal when he scored from the penalty spot in stoppage time after Max Ehmer had brought down Theo Robinson, but it was scant consolation for the effort the home side had put into the game.
