Eoin Doyle snatches late equaliser as Oldham take point from Doncaster

Eoin Doyle snatched a late equaliser to ensure Oldham boss Richie Wellens took something away from his return to Doncaster thanks to a 1-1 draw.

The hosts looked to be on course for the win against the side managed by club great Wellens, thanks to Andy Butler's header on the hour.

But Doyle slotted home from close range with two minutes to go for a share of the spoils.

There had been little between the two sides, both determined to play possession football but struggling to create chances.

Oldham's Gevaro Nepomuceno saw a low drive cleared off the line by Butler following an excellent run by Tope Obadeyi.

At the other end, Alfie May drew a superb save from Johnny Placide after being played through by Alfie Beestin.

Doncaster took the lead on the hour when Butler powered a header from a Tommy Rowe free-kick in off the underside of the bar.

Substitute Craig Davies flashed a shot inches wide as the visitors pushed for an equaliser, while Ryan McLaughin headed over from close range.

But Latics got another chance and took it when Adam Holloway flicked a cross into the path of Doyle to fire in on 88 minutes.
