Brooker delight at scorcher

Doncaster striker Steve Brooker had a hunch he would end the season with a bang before striking one of the best goals of his career against Leicester. The 29-year-old's career has been blighted by a series of injuries since he joined the club, initially on loan, from Bristol City in November 2008 and he had made only 16 appearances this season without scoring until Saturday's 30-yard volley earned Rovers the point needed to guarantee safety from a 1-1 draw. Brooker said: "I saw that Euelly (Jason Euell) was struggling at half-time and I thought that I may have to come on. "I was ready for that, but on a personal note I wanted to go off on a high. A lot of people said `this could be your day Brooks'. It was great to see it fly into the top corner and give us that cushion that we needed. "I don't think I've scored many better to be honest and with as much riding on the game, a few of the lads were saying that they didn't feel the pressure, but it must have got to them."
