Croatian defender, Josip Simunic, who has played for 13 years in German clubs, including Hoffenheim since 2009, signed a two-year contract with Croatian champion Dinamo Zagreb, his new club said Wednesday.

"We are very happy to announce that Simunic is our new player. He signed a contract with Dinamo for two years. As far as compensation is concerned, Josip solved everything with his club," said Zoran Mamic, a Dinamo Zagreb manager.

Born in Australia in a family of Croatian immigrants, Simunic, 33, started his career in 1995 at Melbourne Knights, before going to Germany to join Hambourg SV in 1998. From 2000 to 2009 he played with Hertha Berlin and than with Hoffenheim.

He has played 87 matches for the Croatian national team, scoring three goals.
