Derby County have moved to strengthen their leaking defence with the capture of veteran centre-half Alan Stubbs from Everton.
The 36-year-old stopper has fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park this season and has agreed an 18-month contract with the Rams after being allowed to leave Merseyside on a free transfer.
Stubbs has made almost 600 appearances during a 17-year career in which he has played for Bolton Wanderers, Celtic, Sunderland and Everton twice.
"It's a terrific capture for us," manager Paul Jewell told the club's official website. "Stubbsy is a first-class pro and someone who has been there, seen it and done it.
"I'm delighted to have him on board and believe he'll add experience and steel to our backline.
"He'll train with us on Friday and is very much in contention for a place in the team on Saturday."
