Rams win Davis appeal
27 Jul 2007 - 06:58:06
Derby County have completed the £3million signing of Sheffield United's Claude Davis after gaining a work permit for the centre-half.
The Rams had to lodge an appeal with the Home Office after Davis was initially denied a permit, having failed to play the required number of internationals for Jamaica in the last two years.
That appeal proved to be successful and Davis is free to start his Derby career in earnest.
Rams boss Billy Davies told the club's official website: "We're delighted with the decision and welcome Claude as a Derby player.
"We can now start to get him involved in playing matches and in further getting to know his team-mates and everyone else at the club.
"Claude is an excellent addition. Hopefully he'll be a huge asset to Derby County and it's down to him now to fight for his place, as is the case with every member of the squad."
Meanwhile, trialist Dusan Svento has left the club to return to Slavia Prague.
