Rams target Anderson stay

Derby County boss Nigel Clough is keen to try and agree a new contract with defender Russell Anderson in the near future.

The 31-year-old centre-half joined the Rams in January and has impressed alongside Shaun Barker at the heart of the County backline.

Clough told the Evening Telegraph: "The priority is to sort Russell out.

"We said if we got a point we would sit down this week, so we will be doing that and seeing if we can get him sorted out for next season and maybe beyond.

"Russell says he has enjoyed it here and says he wants to stay. He wants to play and we give him that opportunity.

"Not many clubs at our level can match what we can offer in terms of 30,000 fans watching at Pride Park, our training facilities and our ambition."
