Published: 06 Sep 2011 - 09:53:20

Derby County have announced the appointment of Craig Short to their Academy team After  an eleven year absence Derby County welcome back Craig Short as their Head of Academy Recruitment. The former Rams central defender has been offered the job of finding out and recruiting players from the ages of 13 to 16 years of age to come to the Derby County Academy at Moor Farm. Short will also be expected to source older players to fit into the development squad at Moor Farm, with also a view to progressing to the reserve and even full Rams squad. Craig who played 143 games for Derby following his £2.65m transfer from Notts County in September 1992, is said to be happy at returning to the Rams. He has had experience in managment abroad with Ferencvaros before returning to Notts County as boss for a brief period. At just 43 years of age it is thought Craig's experience both as a player and his contacts in the game during his managerial career will enable him to bring in exciting new talent to the Rams Academy and the club will see these players moving through to take the club forward and maintain the high standards expected at Derby County. Tom Glick, Rams CEO, is excited with the apointment of Short to the expanding back-room team at Derby County and looks forward to appointing the long awaited Director of Football talked about during the summer break, but will not be hurried into the appointment, which is seen as essential to the Rams progression and fight to gain entry into the Premiership again...
