    Rams seal McEveley raid

    30 Jan 2007 - 08:08:10

Derby County boss Billy Davies believes his promotion-chasing squad is stronger now than it was at the beginning of January, after completing the signing of Blackburn Rovers defender Jay McEveley.

The 21-year-old moves to Pride Park for an initial transfer fee of £600,000 and has penned a three-and-a-half year deal with the Rams.

Davies, who has already signed Gary Teale, Stephen Pearson, Craig Fagan and David Jones this month, told the club's official website: "We're delighted to have Jay.

"He's an excellent young player who gives us great competition and we're looking forward to working with him.

"The people we're bringing in have good pace and a good presence. A lot of good ability is coming into the squad and of course they're raising the bar in terms of quality.

"We're delighted to bring in another quality player."
