Rams reluctant to raise bid

Derby County's chairman of football Adam Pearson insists he has not made a new bid for Blackpool defender Shaun Barker. The Rams are believed to have failed with a £400,000 offer for Barker last month with their Championship rivals valuing the defender at £1million. As talk of County renewing their interest in the player intensifies, Pearson said: "There's been no new bid from us. At the moment, our offer is substantially lower than £750,000." Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is desperate to keep hold of one of his star players, saying: "Shaun has a three-year contract and he won't be going anywhere unless we want him to. "He shouldn't have signed that contract if he wanted to move on. It is as simple as that."
