Derby County boss Billy Davies has released eight players including two who helped the Rams reach the Premier League via the play-offs.

Striker Paul Peschisolido and midfielder Seth Johnson both started Monday's 1-0 play-off final victory over West Bromwich Albion but have been told they will not be offered fresh terms.

Meanwhile, Paul Boertien, Lee Grant, Morten Bisgaard, Steven Cann, Lionel Ainsworth and Tom Cumberworth have also been told they are free to leave Pride Park.

"We thank the lads for all the hard work they have put in and the professionalism they showed," Davies told the club's official website.

"We wish them all the best for the future."

Elsewhere, midfielder Giles Barnes will miss the first week of pre-season training after breaking his foot in the Wembley victory.

Barnes came off the bench and set up Stephen Pearson's winning goal before suffering the injury.
