Derby County hope they can sell Benny Feilhaber to a side in the USA after rejecting a bid from Maccabi Tel Aviv for the 22-year-old midfielder.
The American international moved to Pride Park last summer from Hamburg, but has failed to become a first-team regular with the Rams.
He has started only one game for the club - the defeat at Reading in October - and has made seven further appearances from the substitute's bench.
Derby chairman Adam Pearson told the club's official website: "Maccabi Tel Aviv showed an interest in Benny and we allowed him the chance to speak to them.
"However, we've now rejected their latest bid and have called Benny back to Derby.
"There's a lot of interest in the player in the MLS in the States and this is something we're likely to pursue.
"Therefore we feel it's in the best interests of the club and the player to get him back with us."
