Derby County have finally been able to tie up the signing of goalkeeper Roy Carroll from Rangers, on an initial deal running until the end of the season.
The Rams were made to wait for the capture of Carroll, only finally being given the green light after the Gers landed Neil Alexander from Ipswich Town.
Thirty-year-old Northern Ireland international Carroll only joined Rangers at the start of the season, but found his first-team opportunities limited due to the excellent form of Allan McGregor.
Derby boss Paul Jewell told the club's official website: "It's been a protracted deal.
"However, I believe it will be worth the wait because Roy's a great pro and he'll come straight into contention for Saturday's game at Birmingham."
Carroll's arrival coincides with Stephen Bywater leaving Pride Park to join Ipswich Town on loan until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent deal.
