Derby County have completed the signing of midfielder Robbie Savage for a fee in the region of £1.5million.
The 33-year-old former Wales international agreed to join the Rams after losing his first team place at Blackburn Rovers.
Savage, whose previous clubs include Crewe, Leicester City and Birmingham City, has agreed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Premier League's bottom club.
"I am delighted we have managed to sign Robbie Savage on a two-and-a-half year deal and I feel he will be a great success at this club," chairman Adam Pearson told the club's official website.
Meanwhile, Pearson believes Savage will become a hit with the Rams despite his uneasy history with the club's fans.
Savage became public enemy number one when he won and celebrated a last minute penalty which gave his former club and local rivals Leicester City a 3-2 victory at Derby's old Baseball Ground home in September 2001.
"I am obviously aware of Robbie's previous relationship with the Pride Park crowd but I am also very sure that he has the ability and strength of character to repair very quickly any past history," added Pearson.
"We need as much fight and determination as we can pull together and I am sure Robbie will add those ingredients."
Meanwhile, the Rams are also close to completing the signing of out-of-favour Tottenham midfielder Hossam Ghaly.
