Rams cautious with Pearson

Derby County boss Billy Davies has vowed to take his time over recalling midfielder Stephen Pearson to the fold after a foot injury.

The 24-year-old has made eight appearances for the Rams since his £750,000 arrival from Celtic in January, but hasn't featured for just over a month and will not be risked against Barnsley.

Davies told the Evening Telegraph: "Stephen is making good progress but we don't want to rush him back and risk losing him for a few more weeks.

"The timing of his reintroduction is very important.

"If he's not ready for this weekend's game at Barnsley, I would see him being ready for the following game at Leicester."
