Rams await Vaughan verdict

Derby County are concerned that James Vaughan's loan spell with the club could be cut short by a knee injury.

The 21-year-old has returned to Everton for an assessment of the problem which kept him out of the 3-0 weekend win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Coach Gary Crosby told the Evening Telegraph: "He didn't start against Cardiff City on Tuesday night because of a bit of swelling on his knee and it has not settled as quickly as we had hoped.

"James has gone back to Everton to see the consultant who has been looking after him and we are waiting for the results.

"We will just have to wait and see."

Vaughan yet to score since joining the Rams, but has made just two appearances for Nigel Clough's side.
