Ram looking at Tykes Captain

An official announcment from Barnsley states that the Rams are ready to table a bid for defender, Jason Shackell Barnsley have announced that Derby County have tabled a bid for their Captain Jason Shackell. Shackell is a 27 year old defender and has the leadership skills Nigel Clough is looking for to replace Robbie Savage. The Rams of course are also likely to be without the services of Shaun Barker for the start of the season and Shackell would be a very good replacement and central defensive team mate if the transfer goes ahead. Things never go easily for the Rams and this potential purchase is yet another example. The Tykes are currently without a manager after the departure of Mark Robins and until a new boss is installed no transfers will be going out or in to Oakwell. When the new boss arrives at Oakwell it is thought a fee of around £700,000 would be asked for Shackell, who has formally played for Norwich and Wolverhampton Wanderers...   Jason Shackell (Barnsley) information Date of birth Monday, 26th September 1983 Height 6ft 3in Place of birth Stevenage, England Weight 13st 0lb International   Position Defender Comments   Squad No. 4 Recent career history by club (1999 onwards) TeamDebutApps (+ sub)GoalsYellowsReds Barnsley 07 Aug 2010 46 (0) 3 3 0 Doncaster Rovers 15 Aug 2009 22 (1) 1 1 0 Norwich City 14 Feb 2009 14 (0) 0 3 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers 16 Sep 2008 4 (9) 0 0 0 Norwich City 05 Apr 2003 124 (7) 3 16 1 Recent career history by season (1999 onwards) SeasonFirst App.Apps (+ sub)GoalsYellowsReds 2010/2011 07 Aug 2010 46 (0) 3 3 0 2009/2010 15 Aug 2009 22 (1) 1 1 0 2008/2009 09 Aug 2008 20 (9) 0 3 0 2007/2008 11 Aug 2007 39 (3) 0 6 1 2006/2007 05 Aug 2006 47 (1) 3 7 0 2005/2006 09 Aug 2005 18 (1) 0 2 0 2004/2005 27 Oct 2004 12 (0) 0 1 0 2003/2004 30 Sep 2003 4 (2) 0 0 0 2002/2003 05 Apr 2003 2 (0) 0 0 0 Total appearances 210 (+ 17 as sub); Goals 7; Yellow cards 23; Red cards 1
