    Porter welcomes Rams move

    01 Feb 2009 - 10:58:52

Striker Chris Porter is relishing his imminent return to English football with Derby County, having decided to leave Motherwell.

The 25-year-old will set the seal on his arrival at Pride Park on Monday, having agreed a contract running until the summer of 2011.

Porter told his new club's official website: "There were numerous reasons I signed. I came and met the manager, I saw the training facilities and I was blown away by it all.

"Nigel Clough comes across as a cool-headed, down-to-earth manager and he will turn it around here.

"This is a big club with big history and can only go one way, which will hopefully be to the highest of heights.

"I don't think the football in the Championship is anything too different to what I am used to, so hopefully it will be a smooth transition for me."

Porter scored 27 goals in 67 appearances for Well, having previously enjoyed spells with Oldham Athletic and Bury.
