Pearson sidelined after op

Derby County's injury problems have worsened after it was confirmed that Scottish midfielder Stephen Pearson faces up to four months on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery.

Pearson was forced to have an operation on his knee cap on Monday, soon after Martin Albrechtsen was ruled out for a month after enduring a hernia operation.

"It's a blow to Stephen and to us," said Rams boss Paul Jewell.

"He's had a problem for a while and has been playing with the help of an injection.

"The operation went very well but it's a serious injury and will probably keep him out for three to four months."
