Pearson in deal talks with Rams

Derby County have opened contract talks with midfielder Stephen Pearson.

Pearson, 27, is out of contract at Pride Park next summer and Rams boss Nigel Clough is keen to retain the former Celtic youngster.

"We are quite a long way down the road with Stephen but there are just a couple of little details to sort out," said Clough.

"We are a little bit concerned about his injury record and Stephen understands that.

"So it's just how we work that out as to the length of the contract and appearances and that sort of thing.

"But Stephen wants to stay and we want him to stay - that is always a good start."
