Derby County midfielder Stephen Pearson has vowed to work hard and win back his place in the first team at Pride Park.
The 25-year-old Scotland international had looked to be on his way out of the club in the transfer window but rejected a loan switch to Birmingham City after a permanent transfer fell through.
Pearson has not made an appearance for the Rams this season due to a groin problem, but still believes he has a future at Pride Park.
"Nobody likes being left out of the team. It is very disappointing, but the boys are working so hard," Pearson told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"I didn't want to go on loan. I wanted my future sorting one way or another. It wasn't right for me at the time and so I'm happy to stay here at Derby and work hard and do the best I can to get back in the side.
"I've only just got my fitness back so, hopefully, I can get a few more games and get my match-fitness up and fight for my place."
