Derby County boss Billy Davies has stressed that Lewin Nyatanga's loan move to Barnsley is not with a view to a permanent deal.
The 18-year-old Wales international was loaned out to Sunderland earlier in the season and heads to Oakwell for further first-team action, but Davies is not about to sell the teenager.
He told the Evening Telegraph: "Lewin is a young player with bags of potential and he needs to be playing games.
"Playing regularly will also be good for his international career with Wales.
"When a team is on a good run like we are, it is difficult to makes changes, especially to the back four."
Meanwhile, injury-jinxed Paul Boertien has been told that he can leave the Rams on loan, with a permanent exit on the cards.
Davies added: "I have spoken to Paul and we feel it is in the best interests of the player and the club."
