Newcastle came up against a resolute Derby as they fell short of victory for the first time in six home ties and saw their league lead cut to six points.Earlier wins for Nottingham Forest and West Brom put pressure on the Magpies, but Derby were dogged in defence. Ryan Taylor's free-kick hit the bar and Kevin Nolan fluffed a one-on-one, while Rams keeper Steven Bywater denied Nile Ranger brilliantly on 88 minutes.
