New Rams deal for Nyatanga
17 Jul 2007 - 13:50:50
Derby County's highly-rated teenage defender Lewin Nyatanga has committed his future to the Premier League newcomers by signing a new four-year contract with the Rams.
However the Wales international, who had loan spells at Sunderland and Barnsley last season, is expected to leave Pride Park on temporary deals again in the new campaign.
"We're delighted Lewin has signed because he's a young player with great potential, who is still learning the game," manager Billy Davies told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"He's made great strides for Wales on the international stage and has plenty of good experienced defenders in the Derby squad to learn from.
"I'll sit down and look at the situation but it may be that between now and the next transfer window we'll look to give Lewin some more experience of first-team football by putting him out on loan and then bringing him back in."
Nyatanga is now contracted to the club until the end of the 2010-11 campaign.
