    Moxey made a Ram

    26 Jun 2009 - 17:21:16

Derby County have completed the signing of Dean Moxey from League One new-boys Exeter City.

The Grecians have received an undisclosed fee for the 23-year-old, who becomes Derby's fourth signing of the summer. Moxey has signed a three-year deal at Pride Park.

County boss Nigel Clough knows Moxey from his time as manager of Burton Albion when the player was plying his trade with Exeter in the Blue Square Premier League.

A man-of-the-match performance at Wembley in the Blue Square Premier play-off final confirmed his importance to the Grecians. He has made 196 appearances in his career, hitting the back of the net 24 times.

"I'm an Exeter lad and I've loved my time there," he told Derby's official website. "I'd only ever have left to a club I believed would give me the opportunity to progress my career to a higher level.

"Derby have offered me a tremendous opportunity to do that and I'm grateful. I'll give everything I've got to make a success of it here.

"The gaffer impressed me with his plans for the club and how he intends the team to play their football.

"It's a massive club that has huge potential and I'm looking forward to being part of a squad that will try to fulfill it. I can't wait to get stuck into pre-season training."

Clough also spoke of his delight at signing the wide player, saying: "Dean's a very exciting player who we've known about and admired for some time.

"He enjoyed back-to-back promotions at Exeter as a key member of that team and has the hunger and desire to play at a higher level.

"His attitude and character is spot on and he's expressed his aspiration to improve and fight for a place in our team."
