Leacock pens new Rams deal

Derby County defender Dean Leacock has signed a new contract that will keep him at Pride Park until the end of the 2011-12 campaign.

The 24-year-old former Fulham player's previous deal was due to expire at the end of this season but Rams boss Paul Jewell was keen to secure his long-term future to the club.

Jewell said: "Dean deserves credit. He's knuckled down and that's why he's been given a new contract.

"Dean's pleased, we're pleased, and I've been very impressed with his attitude and desire to stay at Derby County, which also speaks volumes for the club."

Leacock has made 79 first-team appearances for County.
