Jewell's high hopes for Green

Derby County manager Paul Jewell spoke of his admiration for new signing Paul Green after he starred in a 3-2 win over Mansfield Town.

Green hit a 79th minute winner at the weekend, backing up Jewell's claims that the former Doncaster Rovers man could be the next Jimmy Bullard.

Bullard was first spotted by Jewell in 2003, when he bought him to Wigan from Peterborough United and has since blossomed into a top-class midfielder.

"Green reminds me a lot of Jimmy Bullard, who I had at Wigan. Like Jimmy, Paul has got loads of energy, great enthusiasm and good technique. I think he will be a real find for us," Jewell explained to the Derby Evening Telegraph.

The 25-year-old's performances have already led to speculation that fellow central midfielder Robbie Savage could leave the club before the end of the current transfer window.
