Jewell lambasts Earnshaw

Derby County manager Paul Jewell has told striker Robert Earnshaw that he has only himself to blame for being out of the Rams' starting 11.

The 26-year-old Wales international has started only three games for County since his arrival in the summer and Jewell wants Earnshaw to show more in training to try and secure a starting spot.

He said: "Robert Earnshaw has got a lot of ability, but I think he needs to look at himself and start putting a bit more of a shift in, because he should be knocking on the door to get in the team.

"Rob has to look at himself and ask why he isn't in the team. It isn't just me, he wasn't in the team when Billy Davies was here either.

"Robert Earnshaw has played at West Brom, Norwich and Derby, so he has all the attributes but I think, and I've said this to him, he needs to ask more from himself."
