FA charge Rams and Forest
02 Feb 2010 - 17:47:29
The Football Association has charged both Derby County and Nottingham Forest with failing to control their players during Saturday's game at Pride Park between the two teams.
The charges relate to a mass confrontation between players and officials from both clubs in the latter stages of the fixture, which the Rams won 1-0. The two clubs have until 17 February to respond to the charges.
Forest manager Billy Davies accused Derby counterpart Nigel Clough of a 'cowardly' attack on him during the melee, telling Sky Sports: "I'll tell you what happened, and you can ask Nigel Clough this, because I said to him that he was out of order when I was in the middle of the skirmish.
"He came in and kneed me in the back of the leg. I said to him that I wouldn't have minded him doing it to my face but to do it to my back was a bit cowardly and that's why I never shook his hand at the end.
"He tried to claim it was an accident but he knows as well as I know that it wasn't an accident. I have no doubt in my mind over what happened, hence why I never shook his hand."
The two Midlands rivals had both been handed suspended fines by the FA following another melee when they met in a similarly fractious encounter at the City Ground earlier in the season.
