Derby County defender Dean Leacock was hospitalised with a head injury he picked up during Tuesday's 2-1 win against QPR at Loftus Road.
The 22-year-old, who joined the Rams from Fulham in a £375,000 deal during the summer, suffered a clash of heads late on in the game and was taken to hospital afterwards when he complained of still feeling the effects.
Boss Billy Davies confirmed on the club's official website: "Leacock picked up a bad head knock and was taken to hospital."
Meanwhile, Davies hailed his side's character after goals from Morten Bisgaard and Steve Howard helped secure Derby a fourth away win of the season.
He added: "We showed in the second half our fitness has improved and it was a big performance from us.
"It's an important three points for us against a team you know will make it difficult for you."
