Davies stands by Moore

Derby County boss Billy Davies has hit out at Plymouth Argyle forward Kevin Gallen for helping to get Rams defender Darren Moore sent off in the 2-0 FA Cup fifth round loss at Home Park.

Moore was sent off 25 minutes from time for a second bookable offence, with Davies accepting his player's version of the clash leading to his red card.

Davies told the Evening Telegraph: "We all know Darren Moore.

"The first thing I said to him was 'tell me what happened' and what's happened is a very experienced player in Kevin Gallen has come back and banged into Moore and gone down.

"Darren is claiming nothing happened and the referee's is saying he sent the player off for persistent fouling.

"If I understand a very honest player and the situation is as Darren is telling me, then Gallen has conned the referee and we have lost an important player at a very important time."
