Derby County have wrapped up the signing of Rangers goalkeeper Roy Carroll on an initial deal running until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old former West Ham and Manchester United keeper has had his contract with the Gers cancelled, meaning he joins the Rams on a free transfer.
Manager Paul Jewell told the club's official website: "I'm delighted we've finally got Roy signed up, it's taken longer than I would have liked, but I'm sure he'll be worth waiting for.
"Roy is a terrific keeper, he's played at the very highest level and I've worked with him briefly before, so I know what he's all about.
"The most impressive thing about Roy is the passion and desire he has shown in just wanting to play.
"He's done a lot himself to make his move happen and I think that's commendable.
"We now have some really good competition for the number one goalkeeping slot and that can only be good for all the keepers here."
Northern Ireland international Carroll started his career with Hull City, while he has also played for Wigan Athletic.
