Derby County boss Nigel Clough hailed the determination of his players after they edged out Millwall in an FA Cup third round replay in a penalty shootout.

A dramatic Pride Park encounter finished level at 1-1 after 120 minutes, before the Rams progressed by a 5-3 scoreline in the shootout.

Clough told the Evening Telegraph: "I thought there was grit and determination and an awful lot of honesty and endeavour not to lose a football match, as well as some reasonable play at times.

"We said we would take any win and especially after going 1-0 down late on, although I didn't think we deserved to be behind.

"We created a few chances in the 90 minutes - Stephen Pearson had a one-on-one and Chris Porter nearly broke the bar.

"If one of them had gone in, I think we would have gone on to win in normal time."
