Carroll relishing JJB return
21 Feb 2008 - 11:34:22
New Derby County goalkeeper Roy Carroll is looking to put one over his former employers on Saturday.
The 30-year-old keeper will return to Wigan Athletic for the first time since leaving the JJB Stadium in 2001.
Carroll, who made over 150 appearances during four years at Wigan, left the club to join Manchester United for £2.5million, but never featured for the Red Devils on his old stamping ground.
However, after signing for the Rams last month from Rangers, the former Northern Ireland international is looking forward to his first return.
"We've had a rest before the Wigan game so hopefully we can go up there and get the result we need," he told the club's official website.
"Three points up there would be fantastic for us and, from my point of view, it will be very interesting to go back.
"I haven't been there since I left so it will be nice to play against them again and it will be good for the manager to go back to his old team as well. I'm looking forward to it."
