    Bug sidelines Teale

    11 Sep 2007 - 12:03:27

Derby County winger Gary Teale has been ruled out of Scotland's crunch Euro 2008 qualifier against France at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday after picking up a sickness bug.

The 29-year-old former Wigan Athletic star did not travel to Paris in a bid to stop the bug spreading through the rest of the squad.

Barry Ferguson will return as captain after being suspended for Saturday's 3-1 win over Lithuania.

Kenny Miller, Russell Anderson and Gary Naismith withdrew from the squad before Saturday's victory at Hampden Park, but, apart from Teale, there are no new injury worries for boss Alex McLeish.

Scotland coach Andy Watson said: "I would think that with Barry (Ferguson) being captain and being one of our key players, then all being well he should be fit and available for selection.

"Everyone trained and there are obviously the bumps and knocks that you get after games which take a day or two to settle down. But everyone is in fine fettle."
