Barnes set to boost County

Derby County have received a boost with the news that Giles Barnes could return from injury next month.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been out of action since undergoing surgery on damaged knee ligaments in February, but Rams boss Paul Jewell has revealed his comeback is now close.

"We are probably looking at October," said Jewell.

"I don't like to say three or four weeks when it might be five or six, but he is on course.

"He warms up with the players in the morning before training and then goes to do his work with the conditioning coach."
