Derby County midfielder Giles Barnes has been told he need to undergo surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon. The 20-year-old faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering the injury in the final minute of Saturday's friendly against Stoke City. "We aren't prepared to put a time frame on how long Giles will be out at this stage until after the operation," said a club spokesman. Barnes has endured an injury-ravaged two years, breaking a foot in the Championship play-off final of May 2007 before enduring a ten-month spell on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.
