Barker form pleasing Clough

Derby County boss Nigel Clough feels former Blackpool defender Shaun Barker is starting to prove his worth at Pride Park.

He made the £900,000 move in the summer and struggled to settle in but now, along with Dean Leacock, Clough thinks the pair are starting to gel at the heart of the Rams' defence and was pleased with his contribution against Coventry City on Friday night.

Speaking to the Evening Telegraph, he said: "I thought Shaun played very well.

"That is the best he has headed the ball for us.

"Shaun is still settling in. How many games as he played? Ten or so?

"It is still very early days. He and Dean Leacock will be fine."
