Wolves boss McCarthy takes Derby striker Simmons on trial at Molineux

Wolves have taken Derby County's Paris Simmons on trial. The Black Country club have offered the striker a chance to earn a contract  during the close season following his release by Derby County. Simmons, 19, was highly-rated by Kevin Thelwell who was in charge of the Rams'  Academy and who has since moved across the Midlands to take a role with Mick  McCarthy's backroom staff. Simmons's career has stalled during the past 12 months after he suffered with  an ankle injury that hampered his progress. He was not able to show Nigel Clough the kind of form to warrant a new contract  but is hoping to impress at Molineux before taking up other offers abroad. Both Slovan Bratislava and Duisberg have also offered him a trial but Simmons  wants to stay in this country if possible.
