A thrilling friendly ended with Derby County just edging out Chesterfield in the traditional pre-season game between the two Derbyshire sides Chesterfields new B2Net stadium saw a stunning first match as the Rams clinch a narrow victoryThe Rams continued their build up to the Championship season with a hard fought 5-4 win over fellow Derbyshire side Chesterfield. The game was the first at Chesterfield's new £13m b2net stadium, which has a capacity of 10,338.Derby brought over 1000 fans to the game and with Chesterfield adding another six and a half thousand the game was witnessed by 7550 fans.Derby soon found out that Chesterfield meant this first meeting of the two sides at the b2net stadium to be a victory for the home side and with just half an hour gone the Rams were struggling at 3-1 down. Derby brought the game level and at 3-3 Stephen Bywater became the Rams hero after saving a penalty.The Rams fought hard and with several changes to both sides Derby managed to gain a 5-3 advantage before Chesterfield made the final minutes exciting by making the score 4-5.Nigel Clough has seen the outing as productive and several players are looking eager for the new season to start. Kris Commons looked lively and scored two of the Derby goals and had several shots just wide of the target. He was playing behind the front two in the Rams new 4-2-3-1 formation, which is the position Clough wants the Scotland midfielder to play next season for Derby.Other scorers for the Rams were, Chris Porter, John Brayford and young American trialist Conor Doyle.The Rams now look forward to taking on Premiership opposition on Tuesday evening when Stoke City visit Pride Park, a game free to season ticket holders.
